About Monique

Photo of Monique Sakellarios

Monique Sakellarios was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and was educated at the Leonardo Da Vinci School of Art and the American University in Cairo. She moved to the United States in her twenties. Her oil paintings of landscapes, seascapes, gardens, and market scenes in the impressionistic style are reflections of the people and places in her life. Using lush, vibrant colors and a loose brush, Monique captures the essence and serenity of each of the New England and European landscapes she has visited.

Her paintings are exhibited in national competitions, have won numerous awards, and can be seen in several galleries throughout the U.S. Monique's work has been displayed internationally. Local venues include the Whistler Museum, Fitchburg Art Museum, Newport Art Museum, and the International Museum of Contemporary Masters of Fine Art in San Antonio. She is affiliated as a juried member of the New Hampshire Art Association, a signature member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, a signature member of Oil Painters of America, and a member of the Nashua Area Artists Association.

I want my paintings to be light and warm so they make you feel good. I want to convey feeling – that’s the sole purpose of my work. Having studied the human figure and focused on portraiture early in my career I have since developed my own unique style of landscape painting. Red and purple are my favorite colors! Having traveled extensively for inspiration my paintings enable the viewer to take a trip around the world.
