About Howard

Photo of Howard S. Muscott

Howard Muscott has captured the exquisite beauty of the natural world and its amazing wildlife with his photographs for more than 50 years. Grounded in his early years of hiking, backpacking and mountain climbing, he captures nature with the long lens of his camera with as little disturbance and as much advocacy as possible.

Self-taught, Howard has had more than 50 individual and 65 group shows highlighting among other things nature, owls, autumn, Southwestern people and light, mountains of Alaska, Colorado and the Pacific Northwest, Costa Rica, and Kenya. His work has been published on the covers of national journals in education, in newspapers and books, and used on educational and other websites. He is a member of the Nashua Area Artists Association, was juried into the prestigious NH Art Association in 2021 and was honored as the Artist of the Year of the Manchester NH Artists Association in 2019-20.

The ideal nature photograph tells a story that speaks directly and profoundly to the heart while moving the mind to self-reflection and advocacy. As a photographer looking through a lens, I try to be both in the moment and simultaneously outside of it as well.
